i didn't know farming policies and politics in this country are so messed up. i'm jaded enough not to be surprised, but i'm still disturbed by it.

It's pretty unbelievable, eh?
This is what blows my mind here in SoCal. I have visited local farmer's markets and have been thoroughly disheartened by what I found. In an area that should flourish in its growing seasons, so few real local producers exist. Most of California is awash with corporate farms, organic and non. The small, local farmer has no chance here and it sucks.
